The “Ha Gan Ga” mantra, a sacred gem hidden within Padmasambhava’s terma treasures, was compassionately revealed to the world by His Eminence Gyaltsab Rinpoche just a few years ago. Recognized even before birth by His Holiness the Sixteenth Karmapa, Gyaltsab Rinpoche carries a legacy of profound spiritual insight.

Around 2010, with great compassion, the distinguished 12th Gyaltsab Rinpoche bestowed the oral transmission of this precious mantra—A mantra so potent that it offers liberation through hearing for anyone with a receptive disposition.

With deep reverence for the potential of this mantra, H.E. Gyaltsab Rinpoche expressed a heartfelt wish: that it be shared far and wide, reaching as many ears and hearts as possible. The beginning of a sacred film captures this wish in motion, as Rinpoche gently chants the mantra. To hear Gyaltsab Rinpoche's recitation is to receive his direct oral transmission—a blessing that transcends words.

In his teachings, Rinpoche reminds us of the Buddha's extraordinary insight:

“The Buddha had the insight to recognize that in essence all beings have the same potential to become equally realized, and to become fully awakened Buddhas. The Buddha saw that the potential of sentient beings is like a treasure hidden from sight.” — H.E. Gyaltsab Rinpoche

The filming of this momentous transmission took place in March 2010 at Gyaltsab Rinpoche’s residence, the serene Palchen Choeling Monastery in Sikkim. The setting was nothing short of magical—a vast, open space nestled on the hillside near the monastery's retreat center, with the awe-inspiring Vajrakilaya sacred mountain standing majestically in the background, its snow-capped peaks gleaming like the crown of a deity.

As Rinpoche’s voice intoned the sacred syllables of the mantra, the atmosphere seemed to shimmer with purity. The crystal-clear sound of his chanting was accompanied by the occasional crisp chirping of birds, nature’s most harmonious and spontaneous offering to the sacred transmission. It was as if the entire landscape, both seen and unseen, conspired to amplify the mantra’s power, carrying it on the wind to every corner of the world.

Long mantra:

AH AH SHA SA MA HA MA BEN DHARMA RA RA HA GAN GA AH SHA LA SA DEN DHARMA DA LI GA HA NA AH LA DA HA MA SA SHA GI YO

Short version:

A AH SHA SA MA HA

This mantra, infused with blessings, continues to spread across the world, fulfilling Gyaltsab Rinpoche’s compassionate wish for all beings to experience liberation through its sound.
